L- [*Major* sediment in this one, both store and handle with care, but then additionally pour unusually carefully too].
Very deep chestnut with a slight ruby hue, 3mm fine tan head, holds well.
S- Toasty deep puddingy notes.
T- That very particular Belgian dubbel-taste. Then comes something woody that I enjoy less.
F- Quite a presence, though less than you might expect from 8%ABV.
O- It's not really doing much for me, considering it's a Belgian historic/Trappiste 8.0%, I've had many far better than this. Not one I'd look out for again.
Bought from BeersOfEurope in the UK. 330ml. BB: 02-2020.

Expected a Dubbel but ended up with the weirdest beer with almost all of what I expected a Dubbell to be, with mouth feel, colour, scent all there, but something definatley went awry with the flavour. Lo malt, no bready tinges, just a hopped up version of a beer that seems to gone off like it had been partially frozen at some point, killing a good portion of the taste. Odd one with a chalky aftertaste.
Like getting a new pair of winter boots, putting them on and discovering they have no soles on the bottom.

Poured from a brown 11.2 oz. bottle. Has a very dark brown color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of dark breads, fruits. Taste is strong of dark breads, some fruits, light hints of chocolate, alcohol is well hidden. Feels medium/full bodied in the mouth and overall is an enjoyable beer.

Poured from an 11 OZ bottle into a chalice at the World of Beer in Pooler, GA. Has a fairly nice wheat and spice aroma. The appearance is a cloudy brown color a small tan colored head. The flavor is nice, you can detect a hint of cinnamon and there is no aftertaste. Overall, this is a nice beer. first time I have ever had this beer.

330ml bottle, a sort of straggler in relation to a number of its siblings who arrived here a while back.

This beer pours a clear, dark red-brick amber hue, with a teeming tower of puffy, finely foamy, and somewhat fizzy beige head, which leaves some random chunky paint-splash lace around the glass as it slowly recedes.

It smells of complex caramel malt, bready toffee, mixed dark orchard fruit (plums and dried cherries, mostly), earthy yeast, reduced brown sugar, kind of musty weedy and leafy hops, and a subtle, but still bristling booziness. The taste is more bready, doughy caramel malt, muddled underripe black fruit, dry molasses, edgy yeast, more underwhelming earthy, straw-like hop bitterness, and a vanilla-tinged alcohol warming.

The carbonation is quite pervasive in its tight and tongue-tickling frothiness, the body just on the light side of yer typical medium weight, and mostly smooth, a wee yeasty acridity rendering its stamp of interference. It finishes off-dry, yet not by as much as one might have been expecting - grainy, slightly fruity, and understatedly warm.

Not an earth-moving or write home to your pals about sort of brew - more of a simple, easy-drinking strong local ale, that is, if your locality is the southwest - of Belgium, natch. Overall, the 16-proof heat does well to remain in the shadows, allowing a few other minor cracks to be detected, but nothing altogether that worrisome.
