Super flavorful, great body/texture. Wishing I had a big ol' burger to pair this with.

really nice rocky head head with staying power. great lacing down my glass.

The nose is delicate as to be expected but some nice gentle hop and sweet toasted malts.

the taste is spot on. nothing over the top here for an american brown. starts out with slight sweetness, oaty and i get a hint of vanilla. hops come in nicely in finish to dry out and quench palate.

the mouthfeel is medium to light in a good way, for me some browns are too big and a little heavy for quaffing a few. carbonation is tight with tiny bubble that really help envelope the tongue.

Overall I would say this beer is excellent. Really a well polished brown that leaves you wanting many more. tons of flavors but restrained to where you can drink a number of pints and keep enjoying. would pair well with good meal and not overtake experience.

GO Black Hog!

Had this on draft at BANC House in Norwalk. Dangerously delicious. Low ABV makes it nearly sessionable, and the silky mouthfeel only adds to that. Pours the color and appearance of cola. Minimal head and no lacing, but that could be the mason jar it was served in. Great nutty aroma with hints of vanilla and caramel. Don't pass this up if you get a chance to have a draft pint.

A: The beer is close to being black in color—when held up to a bright light the edges of the glass are dark brown in color. It poured with a short beige head that died dow, leaving lacing on the surface and a thin collar around the edge. The head eventually completely faded away.

S: Moderately strong aromas of nutty malts are present in the nose.

T: The taste is dominated by strong flavors of nutty malts and has hints of earthy hops, the latter of which contributes a slight amount of bitterness.

M: It feels nearly medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.

O: This is a very flavorful brown ale that would make for a good pairing with a burger.

12oz can from Steve000 (thanks man). Canned 3/31/15. Served in my Phish snifter.

Pours an opaque, dark brown with a finger and a half pale head. Good retention. Several patches and clumps of lace.

Smells of roasty malts, cereal, cocoa and a little nutty. Pretty nice.

Taste mixes chocolate and roasty malts complimented by nutty, cereal and a hint of brown sugar. A tasty, basic brown ale.

Smooth medium feel with fairly strong carbonation. Chocolate, nuts and roasty grain in the aftertaste.

Black Hog's Granola Brown is pretty tasty brown ale. Nothing earth shattering, just a well brewed roasty brown with some sweet, nutty hints of granola.

On tap at Barley Vine. Pours a dark brownish black with no head. Some lacing. The aroma is earthy with some vanilla, and caramel. The taste is more of the same. Lots of caramel, vanilla, and bready malts. Floral hop notes with a lot of earthiness. Hints of coffee. Slightly nutty. Slick mouthfeel and medium bodied. Overall, decent Brown ale.

Hearty brown with substantial mouth feel, slight unsweetened chocolate bitterness. Nothing for the nose to get excited about but truly a snack in a can.

On tap at the Engine Room in Mystic CT
Deep brown color with ruby highlights. Great caramel and chocolate notes. Light earthy hop but this leans heavy on the malt side of things. Tasty night cap.

couldn't pick up any notes of actual granola but lots of rich, satisfying malt goodness n the smell and the taste. body is medium, yet the beer is very carbonated. overall this is a tasty, unique take on the style.

Pours a dark brown with a coffee colored head that was a bit more fizzy than I was expecting. The smell was full of grains and bread while still having some lighter notes on the end. The taste was nice with a sweet beginning from the granola and then brightening with some hops on the finish. Very well balanced. Only thing I thought was off was that it was a tad thin for a brown ale for me. Otherwise, very enjoyable.

Menu lists at 3.5%. First foray into this brewery and I'm intrigued. Granola in the nose and very light, roasted body. Not bad. Breakfast.

More toasty then I expect from a brown ale.
