22oz bomber poured into Duvel tulip. No bottle date.
A- Pours a transparent dark red brown color that seems watery. Sits pretty dark in the glass. A 1/2 inch layer of light mocha head forms with pretty crisp fine bubbles. A decent capping lingers for a few minutes but is reduced to a small ring. No lacing.
S- A very pleasant aroma of chocolate and roasted malt meets the nose. Smell is good, but on the lighter side. Simple.
T- Semi-sweet chocolate pieces, slow lightly roasted coffee beans, and some earthy pine in the bitterness. Very full flavored for the ABV. No astringent taste or bitterness. Focus is definitely on the chocolate and roasted malt notes, which is done very well.
M- Full body for a stout. A slight watery at the onset, but it rounds out in the mid and finish. The finish is mildly dry and leaves the palate still grasping the bolder flavors.
O- A very well done Stout. Really easy to drink and the palate grabs hold of all the flavor after a minute break b/w sips. Would like to try a Imperial Stout from Bar Harbor.
