"accidental sour"
A Bourbon barrel aged sour with grapes
Pours a cleanish brown. Touch of white head. Looks reasonable but kinda flat.
Smells great! Sour grapes for real!
Tastes sour and grape heavy. Really awesome balance of sour, lots going on... Jeez
Solid mouth, overall one of the best of the quaff bros series :)

Big thanks to Brew33 for sending this my way!

Pours like a true American Wild... murky dark root beer body with a quick and noisy half finger of pale brown carbonation that disappears within seconds. Not much in the way of lacing, a bit of legs though. The second pour shows a very different side of the beer - a greater sense of retention and legging.

Smells tart, clean, balanced... I can think of a number of "accidental" sour beers that really don't produce the acidic punch that you would expect from a wild ale - not the case here. Wonderful tart wine grape qualities, musty oak blended with a familiar dry vinegar presence. A bit reminiscent of Supplication in this regard.

Ooo... yeah. That's tasty. Sour oak explodes on the front end of the palate, leaving a tame yet puckering dry sweetness at the finish. There's a sparkling sense of carbonation that you wouldn't expect that adds to the intensity of the acidity. Sour grapes indeed... this is some beautiful stuff right here. Accidental? This seems entirely intentional in the best sort of way.

Delicious. Again... HUGE thanks to Brew33. I wish I had another bottle to play with in the cellar.

From a bottle, this pours dark colar brown with a thin wispy off-white head.

The nose is very acidic, lots of lacto acid, dark fruit, musty, a little vanilla and bourbon notes and red grape skins. The flavor is pretty well balanced, good tartness, but a sweet fruit flavor. A little chocolate and dark malt, some caramel, mixed with red grapes, vanilla. The alcohol is pretty in check here due to the age on it.

I really liked this.

Tasted blindly courtesy of Blind BIF #7. Thanks seeswo!

Large bottle poured into snifter.

A: Color is a dark brown with reddish hints. Head is thin, maybe a finger even on a fairly aggressive pour. Spotted and light striped lacing.

S: Dark fruits, oak, a bit of spice, vanilla, and sweet malt aromas.

T: Interesting. There is a mild tartness up front, with more of a sweet backend. Oak, cherries, raisins. Tastes like there is some age on this one as well.

M: Medium to thick bodied, a touch syrupy. Moderate carb level.

D: Pretty good. I don't expect much problem polishing off this bottle.

O: This is a nice beer. Well balanced and quite a bit going on.
