Tucked into a corner of a large mall, this place is actually fairly cozy. This last time I visited there was country music playing pretty loud, but it wasn't intolerable. The size of the place is adequate enough to make up for being in a busy mall.

The menu has staple items along with some pretty creative sandwiches and German food. You generally get a good amount for the money too, and they seem to use quality ingredients. (Sausages are in natural casing, etc...)

Along with the fairly comprehensive menu is a very diverse selection of 100+ bottled beers. Many are from Germany, but there are some from all over the globe--one of the largest selections I know of in the area.

Service has generally been attentive and pleasant. The staff seem helpful to those who want assistance making a beer selection.

A great place for a quick lunch or afternoon visit. I'll continue to come here for the beer selection and food. Good stuff.

I absolutely love this place. A little kitschy, sure, but there's not a lot of places like this in Greensboro. Get close enough to the bar in the back and you don't even realize you're in the mall 30 ft from the entrance of Belk. Nice dim lighting and lots of wooden beams make the place feel like a different world.

Very nice looking place with all kinds of exotic German specialty food to buy. I don't know how authentic it is, but it's a nice touch and definitely intruiging. The waiter we had was very nice, though he didn't really seem to know anything about beer, and left me to browse the cooler myself. For a location boasting over 100 beers, I was a little surprised at the selection. A lot of generic American junk mixed in with the usual imports and microbrews, but nothing all that unusual or special. They do have a great selection of beers, but nothing terribly rare, nor does their selection focus on middle-European imports, as I had previously thought.

The food was excellent. I was in Germany for a couple of nights once and had a couple of quick meals that I can barely remember, so I can't attest as to how "German" the cuisine was. I did have some sort of pastrami sandwich with wasabi mustard spread on dark toasted rye with some sort of European sounding cheese, and it was excellent.

At upwards of $4 for something like a 12 oz bottle of Blue Moon, it was pretty expensive. The food was on par with other restaurants, but I found it a little high considering they were serving light meals such as sandwiches and meats and cheeses. I was detracted from buying the food because it was also a little more expensive than I would expect. Anything in the mall has a considerable markup anyway so that could be to blame as well. I would recommend visiting though, even if for the food. It may not be impressive for a first date, but if you're comfortable and want something a little different, it's a wonderful little gem hidden amongst the hustle of the mall.

Edit: I visited this place today to buy some singles, and was very impressed with the selection. Excellent selection of German beers, probably the best in the city. Pricey as hell, but hey, if you can't get them anywhere else, you can shell it out or not drink it eh?

What a cool place. Surprised there aren't more reviews of this place on BA, but it's only thanks to BA that I got lured into a huge 3-tiered mall, an environ I would otherwise totally avoid...

First you're hit with all kinds of authentic German cake-mixes, candies, novelties, etc. Then you see shelves of 6-packs from US microbreweries (mostly larger ones like Sierra Nevada and Sam Adams), Germans, UK and Asian stuff, a few Belgian singles in the cooler...but mostly lots of usual and unusual German choices. Nothing insanely out of the ordinary, but overall a good selection. Even had a bar in the way back of the room with 8 taps, including Warsteiner and Young's Double Chocolate Stout. We had sandwiches and they were excellent. You can't miss with muenster cheese, rye bread and super-good sauerkraut. The place had an Oktoberfest hall atmosphere. The servers were friendly and attentive, some of them beer fans, some not. One was armed with a bottle opener and popped the top of my Ivanhoe that was waiting to be opened by our main server. Touche! Only real complaint is they gave me a frosted glass with my bottle. Had to let it sit awhile before pouring.

My fully German wife gave this place a thumbs-up. She noted that the sign hanging above the coolers was grammatically wrong: "Kalt Bieren" should be "Kalte Bier", but you think us dumb Americans noticed? A worthwhile destination for those who love good beer and good hearty German food...even if the staff aren't particularly German, hey, it's Greensboro. The food was reasonably priced, but the beer was expensive. It's too bad they charge you the in-store price for the beer that you can guy and take out. $5.99 per bottle for Ivanhoe? Other than that, this place is lotsa fun. Good eats. Very good beer. Somewhere between down-home and classy.

Got to visit this little place on a shopping trip with the ladies. Yeah, I hate shopping, but it meant that I would be able to check out the cool beer stores and shops along the way from Radford to Greensboro. My girl told me about this place, but I wasn't sure what to expect. She knows good beer selections, so I was sure it was something at least half way decent. I've been to a Frank and Stien before, so that's what I had set in my head. This place was totally awesome. Better than some beer bars I've been too. They had 120+ bottled beer selection in coolers, which was the cool part. They also sold quite a few 6ers. If you ever get stuck going on a shopping trip to Greensboro, request to go to the big ass mall there.
