I had this on tap at "The Melting Pot" before New Year's Eve dinner with my wife.
A: Poured a crystal clear reddish-brown color (actually more red than brown), with about a finger's worth of head and moderate carbonation.
S: Sweet and bready, with a huge amount of refreshing and slightly toasted malt scent.
T: The sweetness almost reminded me of the type you would get from fresh beets. Even though the sweet element was very present, there was a bit of breadiness and slipperiness that made this refreshing to the 10th power. This was like a mini-Doppelbock!
M: Sweet for sure, but not overbearingly so. The carbonation was perfect for the style, and drinking this one on the cold side (but only slighly so) definitely aided in giving this one a crispness (IMO of course).
D: I could honestly drink this all day long. Many have stated in forums that this brew was not what it used to be.... etc..etc...etc. That may be so, but I can't speak to that. All I know is that the brew I just had (and have had many times this winter season) was excellent!

Sampled tonight on 3/12/14 though I last had this on draught in January at a local bar * grill. From their seasonal 'Winter Sampler" (or comes in a 6-pack). Bottle chilled down to 36 degrees F in my beer cooler and poured into a brandy snifter.
Pours a nice dark amber in color with about a half of a finger off-white head that settles down to a thing layer on top and sides. Lacing was seen with each sip. The aroma is of caramel malts with a few spices. The taste of the caramel malts comes right though with some toffee, cinnamon and nutmeg. Very tasty with perfect carbonation. No harsh or bitter aftertaste at all. One of the better Sam Adam's seasonals.
