The final beer in the Sam Adams winter pack! Poured into a Kostritzer pilsener glass.
A: Pours an intense, somewhat murky dark copper color. And there's no other way to put it, but the head on this sucks. It's an off-white color that starts wimpy and somehow retains itself even worse than that. Lacing is minimal. The Kostritzer pilsener glass seems to hate beer heads, for some reason...
S: The Hallertau hops on this are quite easy to smell, even with my nose being quite a few inches away. The spices are less noticeable, but make a nice complement to the hop note.
T: Has a prominent malt note, while the cinnamon subtly enters the picture near the end of the sip. Generally, I'm not a fan of spiced beers (especially cinnamon-spiced beer), but the malt profile has no trouble keeping the beer pleasant sipping.
M: Finishes very smoothly on the palate, with strong carbonation and medium thickness.
O: Not bad at all. I won't be getting six-packs of this anytime soon, but I would have no problem putting a few of these away if they were given to me. A decent session beer if you can look past the 5.5% ABV.
