Appearance: Sam Adams Winter Lager presents itself in a variety of colors and appearances. Great lacing and foam present. Not much carbonation. In the light this beer is a glowing amber-orange and changes into a dark amber-brown. Lots of complexity.
Smell: Spiced with ginger and cinnamon. Fairly strong and warming.
Taste/Mouthfeel: Strong lager taste. Some hops and a fair amount of malt. Tastes citrusy and spiced, almost like a traditional wheat beer. Tasty and filling, but not awfully thick. While it doesn't look carbonated, you can feel the bubbles. Makes it a bit less smooth.
Drinkability: The taste averagely smooth. No more drinkable than any other good beer.
Overall: I like this stuff. It goes well with roast beef or even a burger. Very warming feeling.
