Poured from bottle into pint glass

Appearance – Pours a hazy golden-orange color with a big white head. The head fades over about a 5 min time frame to give a medium level of lacing.

Smell – A nice wheat and lemon aroma are the base of the smell. These are mixed with a lighter orange and spicy smell as well.

Taste – A wheat bread taste is nice and heavy up front. This nice wheat flavor is the base of the beer and lasts throughout the taste. At the start the taste is on the sweeter side with flavors of orange and some sugar sweetness. These flavors give way a bit to some more sour/bitter lemon flavors and a mild spice toward the middle and the end. Very full flavored overall.

Mouthfeel – The body is quite heavy for the abv of the beer, with a carbonation level that is a bit on the higher side. All in al, the two combined to match the characteristics of the beer well. The carbonation creates a refreshing experience while the body accentuates the nice citrus and wheat flavors.

Overall –A great tasting and refreshing beer great for sitting outside.

I do enjoy sam adams as whole, and this beer is no exception, while the citrus can border on to much, I don't think it crosses the line into to overpowering. Overall a good staple beer, which is what i have come to expect from the sam adams line. I have had both cans and bottles, and i prefer the bottles, but that is almost always true of any beer.

I bought it in a liquor store in Wyoming, for the first time I try a beer with paradise grains:

A: straw, with a small head and moderate retention with thin lacing

S: grains, citrus and spices

T: wheat and spices (clove) not bitter and some zest.

AT: clean, dry

O: Good light beer for a hot day

Appearance is a hazy yellow golden color with a two finger white fluffy head.
Aroma is wheat, hops, malt, bread.
Taste is bready and wheat with a sweet malt and slight citrus.
Mouthfeel is super carbonated and thin.
I had this with food which probably made it much more enjoyable.
It's your typical Sam Adams. Nothing special but its worth trying.

Delightful beer that you can find almost anywhere during the summer months. There must be a reason for its popularity, right?

I first had this beer at the Sam Adams Brewery in Boston. It was decent, but I didn't freak out over it (the Black and Gold, however, was AMAZING!).

Poured on draft at Harrah's Cherokee Casino in Cherokee, North Carolina, into a standard ball glass.

A: Thick and cloudy, slightly golden yellow with a nice thick head that laces properly. It's a pretty beer for a wheat ale, I just don't like the look of a wheat ale. This one is more yellow than orange and it's a bit bright and girly. It looks like a Blue Moon. Big negative man points there, right?

S: Wheat, citrus, hops. Clean and crisp. Nothing to see here.

T: This is where the beer comes into its own... Summer Ale has a really strong sweet flavor that is quite addictive. I had two of them with dinner and took them out with the quickness. I guess that's why it's good in the summer? Anyway, lots of wheat flavors supported by a faint citrus and hops. It's clean and smooth, easy to drink, sweet but hoppy, wheaty but not grainy and just enough lemony citrus twang to fight off the ya'lls.

M: Thick and rich, very light carbonation, very soft hops bite. Easy to pour down the gullet.

O: I can see why it's popular. I'm sure I'll drink it again on a hot day because it has a really good taste, better than most other wheats, but not something I'd order over a good, malty, rich lager, strong IPA or bitter.

12 oz bottle poured into a lager glass.

A - Bright straw. Two finger head that keeps a foamy film throughout. Nice lacing.

S - Wheat and faint citrus.

T - Lemon, citrus, and noble hops ably support the wheat flavor.

M - Medium/light

O - A good session beer. Finishes clean.
