Served in a tall Weizen glass. Pours out a pale hazy orange with a huger fluffy white head. Goes over the glass with out pouring down the sides. The head retention settles down to a thin blanket of foam on the top with some sticky lacing. The carbonation bubbles race to the top.
The lemon zest hits the nose first. Soft wheat, and a hint of yeast. Giving the ale a hint of bread. Along with the tart spiciness some hop bitterness can be detected as well.
The first flavor to hit the palate is zesty lemon peel and even some orange flavor. There is a soft bread malt with a bit of sweetness. Now I do not know what Grains of paradise is, but it seems to make the finish semi-dry and spicy. The hops are not prevalent until the finish, giving this ale a little bitterness matched with lemon peel.
Light and carbonated in body and semi dry bitterness. Plenty of carbonation making this ale refreshing.
To be honest, this Summer ale would be perfect if they left out that grain of paradise. Just keep it simple and refreshing. But overall this wheat ale is decent.
