Poured from a bottle into a glass... again as I said in a previous review of the Sam Adams "Octoberfest", the Samuel Adams brand isn't a favorite of mine.. So don't expect a glaring review. Much less a well educated one.
The Appearance is a good clover honey color.. with no taste of clover of course. My head didn't last long and dissipated pretty quickly.. (pretty par for the course in all honesty)
This lager smelled like an amber colored beer. I didn't get a wiff of any fruits or anything that would stand out and call notice. I should have smelled something shouldn't I? For that reason I'm going below average - I may have went too far but again, Sam Adams isn't a favorite.
Taste - I probably need to see what the date was on this variety pack, as the taste - well it taste like every other Samuel Adams Boston Lager I've ever had. Decent... not so hoppy, but yet way more flavor than my normal beers of choice.
Samuel Adams if anything for me has the "mouthfeel" down pat. All the beers of their's that I've had have a good solid crispness to them. I like that. It's what to me makes a cold beer refreshing... I've never jogged a mile and wanted a Guiness (sp) afterwards, but a cold crisp beer yes! I have wanted that.
Overall to me, it's average, it appears it wants to be something better than Budwieser - which I guess it is.. but the characteristics of it do not really distinguish it as something I'd brag about. That's me... and my $0.02

Appearance: Pretty clear with a nice lacing and decent sized head--somewhat light amber/light brown colored
Smell: Sweet and hoppy
Taste: Caramel-buttery, sweet malty flavor
Mouthfeel: Not quite heavily carbonated but somewhat heavy feeling in the mouth
Overall: Delicious, refreshing, not too light--but decent and somewhat heavy, overall flavor is smooth and has hints of sweet malty flavor

Large fluffy head with good lacing. The head sticks around for a long time. Beautiful light copper colored beer. Very clear. Moderate carbonation with large bubbles.
Hops are dominant. Some malt sweetness in the background.
Tastes like it smells, but with a slightly harsh bitterness to the finish. There is just something about the flavor profile that I don't like. It is too harsh for the style. It tastes like the ingredients are good quality. It just comes across as unpleasantly harsh on the finish.
Medium bodied. Good mouthfeel, but that weird lingering harshness detracts from the experience.
This is a pretty good beer that for some reason just doesn't sit right with my palate.
