S - Pint glass poured from the bar tap
A - In the glass, it froths up, but the head collapses fairly quickly. I must say, I was surprised at how dark it is. A copper, amber color with an almost cream head.
S - A hoppy spiciness and malt overtones.
T - Very goood! It’s almost like drinking an ale. Has a hint of malt. I think it’s the aftertaste where Samuel Adams Boston Lager comes to life, and where it makes a bold stride away from the crowd. The finish is tingly, tangy, salty, hoppy, spicy, and a little bit malty. All this makes it bitter overall, but balanced and with a long and quite smooth finish.
O - This is a lager that truly is different. One of those few that thinks it’s an ale.

Poured from a 375ml bottle into a Riedel Lager Glass. It was consumed with dinner on a hot Kansas evening after a round of golf.
I loved the appearance of this beer. Its deep bronze colour was impressive, it poured with a thin head that lasted for most of the beer and there was cool looking lacing as I drained the beer from the glass.
The first thing I detected was the malt, before I even had a good smell of the beer. I guess this should be no surprise given it is a Vienna Larger.
Although full-bodied, I found the beer to be one-dimensional. There was nothing on the mid or back pallet and I felt the malt overpowered the hops.
As the beer warmed I could start to detect some bitterness on the back pallet, maybe there was a hint of roasted almonds as well?
There was a crisp mouth feel to the beer.
I was told by many people that this is the 'Rolls Royce' of American Largers - maybe the hype was built up too much. I guess it is well put together beer, however, I don't think I will be having it again.

my opinion of this brew has gotten better with time. I think the can option actually results in more flavor. Jim K has really sold me on this one - great, rich taste, color, head ... truly drinkable and enjoyable. so much character - and like JK says, today's BL is better than it was originally - super experience !
