Appearance: Darker color than one might expect from such a lager, kind of a deep redish-orange. Head and lacing are abundant, helped by my sloshing pour into a weizen glass.
Smell: Hops hit you first, and there's malt in the background, too.
Taste: It's definitely hoppy, but well-balanced from the malt. There's a sweetness that's coming through this time that I don't remember ever tasting before.
Mouthfeel: Light-to-medium bodied, with just a little hop bite. Doesn't seem to suffer from excess carbonation like some Sam Adams beers do.
Drinkability: You really aren't going to find a more sessionable beer, especially one as readily available.
Notes: It's somewhat uncommon for a brewery's flagship beer to be one of their best offerings, but that's definitely the case with Boston Lager. In fact, Boston Lager might be my favorite Sam Adams beer. I here that this beer is sublime straight from the brewery, so I make it my mission to visit someday.

Smell: Sweet and hoppy
Taste: Caramel-buttery, sweet malty flavor
Mouthfeel: Not quite heavily carbonated but somewhat heavy feeling in the mouth
Overall: Delicious, refreshing, not too light--but decent and somewhat heavy, overall flavor is smooth and has hints of sweet malty flavor

Large fluffy head with good lacing. The head sticks around for a long time. Beautiful light copper colored beer. Very clear. Moderate carbonation with large bubbles.
Hops are dominant. Some malt sweetness in the background.
Tastes like it smells, but with a slightly harsh bitterness to the finish. There is just something about the flavor profile that I don't like. It is too harsh for the style. It tastes like the ingredients are good quality. It just comes across as unpleasantly harsh on the finish.
Medium bodied. Good mouthfeel, but that weird lingering harshness detracts from the experience.
This is a pretty good beer that for some reason just doesn't sit right with my palate.
