I really feel for this once trail blazing old stalwart. For quite some time I was willing to ignore how hopelessly out of style it is (it is virtually devoid of maltiness so how it can be considered a Vienna lager is beyond me) but now that this whole 'craft thing' has grown an extra head, various appendages and a couple of spleens it just comes across as rather tired. Sort of like Brooklyn Lager. Yes, it smells fairly pleasant and flowery, looks pretty nice, gives some pretty good head and lacing but there's not enough on the palate to really add to that backbone and lubricate your loins.
Went reasonably well with Mongolian beef from the local Chinese though and felt absolutely no guilt whatsoever for sacrificing its edge to a sustained chilli attack.

Large fluffy head with good lacing. The head sticks around for a long time. Beautiful light copper colored beer. Very clear. Moderate carbonation with large bubbles.
Hops are dominant. Some malt sweetness in the background.
Tastes like it smells, but with a slightly harsh bitterness to the finish. There is just something about the flavor profile that I don't like. It is too harsh for the style. It tastes like the ingredients are good quality. It just comes across as unpleasantly harsh on the finish.
Medium bodied. Good mouthfeel, but that weird lingering harshness detracts from the experience.
This is a pretty good beer that for some reason just doesn't sit right with my palate.

A - Copper gold with a nice medium white head.
S - Very malty, can't get any hops or anything other than barley malt, really.
T - Buttery breadiness to the malt.Very slight hops and then citrus at the end. My palate is too accustomed to bitter hops to agree with other reviewers about the bitterness of this one.
M - Smooth with favorable carbonation.
O - Overall I'm meh on this one. Expecting a bit more but I can't really be wowed by lagers anymore it seems. Take that as you will beer-anti-hipster-hipsters.
