Poured from the tap just now. Beautiful amber color, luxurious one-finger head. This beer's look is intoxicating by itself.

No nonsense smell.

Tastes great. Sweet without being syrupy, numbs the front of the tongue with an anesthetic bitterness.

Effervescent but not frivolous in the mouth.

Drinkability? I can drink this till the Rapture.

I need to find the guy on the commercials with the long goatee and shake his epic hand.

One of the best flagship beers ever and it is a staple of the "craft beer" world. Even-though many consider it to be too commercial to be a true "craft beer" it has all of the flavor and impact that any great beer should have.

A - Perfect light brown color basically a caramel that is crystal clear. Fluffy white head that sits nice and high. Great lacing.

S - Rich malty aroma with caramel and lager notes. Also grainy tones and some noble hops. Smells like any commercial amber lager but with more hop character.

T - Tastes of sweet maltiness with some grain, caramel, and lager flavor. This beer takes you average "beer" and kicks it up to the next level with layers of clean and delicious flavors. Only a light bitterness and some noble hop character to balance the sweet malt character.

M - Medium to light mouth-feel. Moderate to light carbonation. Very balanced in ever respect. Could drink this forever and would go perfectly with thousands of food combination.

Overall, this is a great (once craft, now commercial) beer that is perfect for drinking on Sundays, during the Summer, or just when a heavy stout or IPA just isn't what I'd like. Though big imperial IPAs and imperial stouts have my heart; I would still never turn down a good ol' Boston Lager.

Appearance – The one poured a light, clear orange. It had some good, active carbonation with a soft, off-white head that showed excellent retention.

Smell – The American grain came out first. It wasn’t as harsh as it is in many US macro beers. The light, kind of citrusy hops were very pleasant and the even malt aroma was even better.

Taste – The hops were more prominent at the taste. The malt backbone came out quite nicely as well.

Mouthfeel – This lager is light to medium-bodied with some good carbonation and a nice dryness throughout.

Drinkability – This is a good “micro-macro” beer.

On tap at the Town Pump in Detroit. Poured a light copper color with a pretty thick, creamy looking head that was very inviting. Nice up front hop aroma, fairly mild, along with malts and grains - nice parity among the different smells going on. The first taste hits you with a little bit of the hop bitterness followed by a nice sweet and malty body. Call me crazy, but I tasted just a BIT of faint apple flavors in there, along with maybe some other kind of fruit. By the end, some more floral flavors came out but the malty finish also got stronger. A very crisp beer, thanks to the carbonation with an overall thin body, very smooth going down.

Considering a company as large as Samuel Adams, it's still obvious that they put a lot of care into their brews. As far as the "larger" brew companies go, this is some of the best. Easy to drink and session with and it blows BMC beers out of the water, especially for the relatively low price.

A: A deep good with excellent clarity. The persistent off-white head is comprised of compact bubbles.

S: A low Noble hops aroma that is a bit earthy and spicy. There is a moderate amount of German malt character although I don't know whether that's Vienna or Munich but I get there. Otherwise a fairly clean lager with no inappropriate aromas.

T: A soft malt flavor at a moderate level. There is a moderate hop bitterness with a little bit of a spicy hops flavor. The balance is about even between the malt and the bitterness. The finish is somewhat dry with a the malt flavor and hops bitterness in the aftertaste.

M: A smooth medium-light bodied beer with moderately-strong carbonation.

O: A good Vienna lager that pairs well with food. This is a flavorful lager but there are other examples that have really impressed me.

This lager has a nice, amber color which sets it apart right away.

It has a nice hop/malt balance in the nose with citrus and pine blending with caramel malt.

Taste is similar to the nose, medium bodied with earth, citrus, and caramel.

A very solid lager that goes well with a number of foods or just as a tasty session beer. A good standby for restaurants.

This is a light, hazy, orange-tinged beer with absolutely no head as it was served. Smells are very faint but lightly malty. Taste is prettymuch classic vienna lager I guess. It has a sweet and toasty malt base with a bitterness that only really shows itself toward the finish. Alcohol is barely apparent. Mouthfeel is probably just a little thicker and slicker than it ought to be. Something about this beer keeps me from wanting to drink alot of it. It feels a tad heavy I guess. It also reminds me exactly of a beer I homebrewed once which was kinda freakin me out. What can I say? This is a good beer with no real issues, but I guess I prefer Negra.

Sam Adams Boston Lager...

A- Pours a nice light amber color with a tight foamy head that falls to a lacing that sticks to the glass with retention.

S- Smell is of mild malts and husky grains with a touch of hops.

T-M- Carmel malts and light hop bite are the first taste. Second is a touch of fresh carbonated sweet alcohol sugar feel. All and all a good lager with a favor of a no frells flavor. Light bodied with nothing to set itself apart from others.

D- Drinks good but could use some alcohol content to add to the color.

A beer that is considered great by many people..but i am not one of those people. Samuel Adams produces a lager that is way over hopped for that style of beer. Additionally it doesnt seem like they are even using the correct type of hops because it is far too bitter for a lager. This beer looks good but is far from it. Sam Adams claims that it is i craft brewery but in actuality it is right up there with Budweiser and Coors.
