served around 45f. This beer is greatly responsible for me becoming interested in non-macro beer, though this was in 1991/2. There may be some residual bias. Happily this is available in panama at a couple of locations.
pours with small 1/2" head into a pint glass. active carbonation in the beer.
mildly malty nose dominated by citrus or floral hops with some in particular which remind me of dreadnaught. lupulophiles would know which perhaps. In any event, somewhat harsh but inviting.
taste remains malty, even more than nose. hops are blended in here, not standing out but the overall taste is moderately bitter as a result. this is a very decent combination.
I probably have not had more than one or two other vienna lager's knowingly to compare this to in my life, but it is a very pleasant taste, with enough bitterness to keep the palate interested rather than shutting it down. Worth trying, and an excellent staple for when more varied beers are not available.
