Boston Lager pours a crystal clear gold with a tiny, lasting off-white cap. Uniformly sparse sheets of lace appear down most of the glass. Very nice nose of biscuity malt with some spicy floral hops.
Solid Vienna character with more grainy malt coming through on the palate. It's nice to see some hop bitterness as well. If this bottle was less than 8 months old, I'm sure the hop flavor would be more forward. In any case, they are still hanging around, lending some fruit (berry?) flavors and a slight sourness. Nice clean bitterness on the back end.
The body is fairly substantial for the style. Medium carbonation and heft combine for a nice creamy mouthfeel. I'm not a huge Vienna fan, but overall a solid offering from one of America's pioneer craft brewers.
