Purchase before April on side of bottle ... bought this before April and it sat in the fridge for a while. Another review of beer acquired via the five-finger discount.
Crystal clear red color, good pooling of lace that retains well, head is rough but appropriate for a lager.
Well balanced smell of both crisp precise hops and bready amber malts. Smells tasty.
Very bready, dextrinous taste. Grainy aftertaste of corn and barley, I like this but it is a little clumsy and many may not (and it reminds me of Miller High Life's finish, for better or for worse). Grains are mitigated by the surprisingly strong hop presence... low alphas that do their job. Not complex, really, but it's a fine lager. Not quite as smooth as it warms...
Mouthfeel is nice, very feisty bubbles but not overwhelming. Dextrins really make this a full-bodied beer that you can almost chew on.
Nothing bad and the simplicity of the beer makes it very drinkable. Combine that with the fact that it's so frequently far-and-away the best beer available at bars and restaurants, and I thank the powers that be for Sam Adams Boston Lager.

Appearance: Pretty clear with a nice lacing and decent sized head--somewhat light amber/light brown colored
Smell: Sweet and hoppy
Taste: Caramel-buttery, sweet malty flavor
Mouthfeel: Not quite heavily carbonated but somewhat heavy feeling in the mouth
Overall: Delicious, refreshing, not too light--but decent and somewhat heavy, overall flavor is smooth and has hints of sweet malty flavor

Large fluffy head with good lacing. The head sticks around for a long time. Beautiful light copper colored beer. Very clear. Moderate carbonation with large bubbles.
Hops are dominant. Some malt sweetness in the background.
Tastes like it smells, but with a slightly harsh bitterness to the finish. There is just something about the flavor profile that I don't like. It is too harsh for the style. It tastes like the ingredients are good quality. It just comes across as unpleasantly harsh on the finish.
Medium bodied. Good mouthfeel, but that weird lingering harshness detracts from the experience.
This is a pretty good beer that for some reason just doesn't sit right with my palate.
