355 mL bottle from the LCBO; best before Oct 2012. I've been interested in trying this stuff pretty much since I first saw it, but haven't been able to convince myself to spend the beans on a full sixer. Thank god for breakage, and the resulting singles.
Pours a beautiful, translucent orange-amber colour, topped with one finger of fizzy, soapy off-white head that is in a hurry to go somewhere else. A wispy cap and thin collar are its only remnants. The aroma is enticing, if a bit straightforward - bready malt sweetness with hints of brown sugar, clementines, grass and a healthy dose of earthy, leafy hops.
The taste is approachable and balanced, with bready malts and caramel sweetness forming the backbone. Hints of lemons, spice and wet hay yield to the grassy, floral noble hop dryness of the finish. Bittersweet aftertaste that lingers on the palate briefly. On the light side of medium-bodied, with heavy carbonation that gives it a crisp, spritzy mouthfeel. Well-suited to drinking in copious quantities.
Not something that is going to be knocking many socks off, but still a supremely well-made lager. Very drinkable, but not at all bland or cloying like its macro competitors. A little too fizzy for my liking, but I'm really digging for complaints here - this is great stuff and there's no reason not to try it.
Final Grade: 3.9, a worthy B+. Samuel Adams Boston Lager is a tasty, balanced session brew packed with far more flavour than your typical 5%-ish mass-produced lager. Very good for what it's meant to be, and something most beer drinkers - from the most hardcore macro swiller to the most uptight of BAs - can probably appreciate to some extent. A solid flagship beer that I will most likely pick up again at some point.

330ml bottle. Stange glass @ L´Espumossa (Barcelona). Amber color, crystal clear appearance. White froth, thin but lively crown. Crystal malt, lager yeast, floral aromas & resinous hues. Toasted flavor & arising bitterness at first sip. Light to medium body. Moderate but lively carbonation. Clean bitterness & dried mouthfeel rounded by spicy touch. Subtle honey & lemon-tea hints linger into a long bitter finish. Mild toasted notes on the aftertaste. Refreshing & easy drinkable !!
