Poured from a bomber into a Founders snifter
The look of this beer is pretty much everything I want from a stout. Deep black, like staring into my wife's soul. The pour yielded a two finger mocha head.
Smell on this almost seemed jumbled to me. Lots going on here. I smell chocolate, coffee, ginger, cinnemmon, maybe some allspice going on in there too.
Taste to me was cinnemmon forward, then the chocolate and coffee. I didn't get very much of the ginger. It was there, but more of a background player. I didn't get much booze in it, thought that was hidden quite well for a 9%.
The mouth feel is where this one shines for me. Very thick and rich. Carbonation is perfect.
Overall, I think this is much better than I scored it. I was hoping for more of a gingerbread taste. Kinda like picking one up and ripping the legs off of those little bastards and screaming in victory as the amputated cookie begs for its life...but alas it is not. It's good though. Made me smile, but that may also have been the 9% abv.

Pours a deep chocolate brown with deep walnut brown showing thru when held to the light,a nice looking creamy near mocha colored head atop.Alot of roast in the nose along with spicy ginger and sweet alcohol lingering.Flavors are heavily roasted with a bit of char at the onset, the spiced notes come in the back end with ginger, and clove standing out mainly, alot of roast and dry earthiness to this milk stout. The alcohol becomes more prevalent as it warms as well the sweetness derived from it,not overly spiced but not a bad beer.

Appearance: dark brown in color, 1/4 inch head, opaque, medium-high carbonation
Smell: gingerbread cookie
Taste:roasted malt, ginger bread, and a ginger snap intensity at the end
Mouthfeel: medium-heavy bodied, medium carbonation, sweet with spiciness
Overall: Not the most complex of the Sam Adams special releases, but a quality beer if you like ginger. I could see myself getting this once a winter, but craving it more than that.

The beer pours a very dark brown to black color with a tan head. The aroma has a lot of cinnamon and nutmeg notes, as well as some roasted malt. The flavor is very similar. The ginger and strong cinnamon notes really come through strongly. They are joined by some chocolate and roasted malt character that melds well with the spices. Medium to thick mouthfeel and medium carbonation. A very nice, spicy stout.

Poured from bottle into a stein.
Appearance: Black, very dark. Beige head, about two fingers worth.
Smell: Molasses, ginger, sugar, cinnamon, coffee, and some chocolate. Very complex smell.
Mouthfeel/Taste: Full bodied and thick. Amazing complex flavors nutmeg, cinnamon, molasses, and coffee dominate the palate. Faint flavors of chocolate.
Overall: Excellent stout! I enjoyed every drop of this brew.

Jet black in color with a thin light brown head. Nutmeg, ginger, and cinnamon in the aroma. I do think they nailed the gingerbread aroma! Mouth is silky and creamy. Lots of molasses, nutmeg, cinnamon, and ginger along with a bit of dark malt. The spices dominate, but do not overwhelm. This is a bit more of a sweet dessert type of beer. The sweetness dissipates as it warms so don't drink it ice cold and you will enjoy it more.
