Sampled on Feb. 16, 2009 on tap at a Ruby Tuesday restaurant. It pours a bubbly pale-yellow with a small amount of off-white head. The carbonation is constant. Any evidence of malts or hops are immediately drowned out by the ovepowering cherry and fruity scents. It's just way too much for me. The mouthfeel is of medium texture. The flavor is like cherry Kool-Aid but more sour or tart. I think I caught a tiny bit of hops but it is really indistinguishable from that cherry taste. Subtlety would have been the better route for this brew. Not all that great.

Poured into a tasting glass from the tap.

The color is light cloudy, amber with a white head.

The smell is strong cherry, and a hint of spice.

The taste is mostly cherry but it does also have a good wheat flavor as well as a little hops.

This last try at tasting this beer became quite a surprise. I was not expecting to really have a positive feeling about this beer.

This is a beer that is good for when you need something really light but still want to drink a beer. Not a bad beer for clearing the taste buds in between Imperial porters.

A: a bright peach colored amber and slightly cloudy.

S: sweet and fruity. hints of cherry and spice

T: tangy, slighty sour cherry a first. the cherry is replaced with a wonderful malty flavor that turns into a nutty aftertaste that hangs on until you sip again.

M: refreshing with plenty of carbonation

D: I have had this beer many times in bottles, but never on tap.. let me tell you, it's a whole new beer. in bottle form I can do one or two, on tap I could drink all day. this beer proves why draght is better.

A normal golden lager type color with a medium white head that leaves some lacing. Aroma of cherry cough drops and honey, Flavor is much the same, a strong artifical cherry taste with some ok honey notes as it warms, way too sweet for me.
I loved this stuff when I first got into craft beer, but now I pass on it if possible, just too sweeet for me now I think. Love most of Sam's other stuff though.

After I took only a few sips, I passed this beverage around to all my friends ranting on how great this beer tasted. I couldn't believe how strong the cherry taste was. My only issue with this beer is I only had two, but couldn't imagine trying to put down a whole six pack of these in one sitting.

Pours a reddish light brown body with a thick, frothy head that takes awhile to go down. Some sweetness in the smell and minor hops, but the cherry is predominant. A smooth, somewhat hoppy beer but the cherry overrides everything. Not only is this medium-bodied beer out of balance but the cherry taste is sharp and cutting; reminded me of cherry 7Up. It isn't a bad beer and it tickled my sweet tooth, but I really couldn't stand it that much and one was enough for me.

S- The nose is one of domestic wheat and slightly cherry-like.

T- Medium sweetness from the cherries along with a small amount of tangy wheat.

M- Average body and carbonation

Pours a hazy, honey-gold color with some carbonation. There is a thick white head that stays fairly well throughout the drink.
Smell is very strong with cherries, almost too much for me. Very syrupy sweet smell of black cherries, but a bit of wheatiness jumps in at the end.
Taste has a lot less of a cherry dominance than the smell. The cherries are there, though, with a nice cherry sweet taste balanced by a nice wheat taste. Wheat is much stronger and better in the taste.
Mouthfeel is very smooth. There is a nice thickness to it as well.
Drinkability isn't there for me. I will tap out after one or two of these because of the sweet cherry taste. Fairly nice summer drink, it isn't the best beer, but I would recommend people at least try it.

Pours into the glass with a nice golden yellow color. Smells like... cherries (not much of a surprise) with a malty sweetness. Hops are nearly undetectable due to the cherry smell. The taste is comparable to the aroma with more of an emphasis on the malt than the cherry. This is a very light bodied beer with a pleasant taste of cherries. It is remarkably clear for a wheat beer, but that is probably due to filtering process that Sam Adams does to all of it's brews.

I was not expecting much, but this is a good brew. I am not crazy about fruit beers, but this has a nice touch without overpowering the beer. Light and fruity.

Got this beer on tap at the local ale house. It arrived at the table with very little in the way of head, just a little lacing around the rim. It's a nice amber color, that's pretty pleasing to the eye. The appearance is perhaps the best part of this beer.

There was very little smell, and what there was amounted to a little bit of cherry and a little bit of mustiness.

Taste was mediocre at best. This does not really taste like a wheat beer at all. Flavor was a little wheat, a little cherry and a lot of water. Sort of like a loaf of bread that had some water spilled on it sitting next to an open jar of maraschino cherries.

Carbonation on this one was decent, but again very watery. This was way too light in my book to be considered a good beer. I know a good wheat beer is on the lighter side, but this is just too much.

I don't think that I would drink this again. It really is just a sad example of the style.

We like it in bottles but on tap its sour.

Pours a slightly bronze color--fuzzy head that quickly fades leaving little lacing. Fairly clear. Smell is sweet, soft cherry essence, some yeast. Taste is slighly sour with very little wheat. Cherry flavor is masked by the sourness. For some reason its fine in a bottle but on tap its not as good, at least imo. Very little body in the mouth. Drinkability is moderate. Ok but not great.

On-tap at Friday's...
Presented with a minimal head... dark-amber, reddish hue that left hardly any lacing at all...
Smell was truly rendolent of freshly-picked cherries... The aroma was true-to-the-style, very fruity and sweet...
The taste strongly complemented the flavor... Sweet, candied, sugar-laden, cherry flavor dominates this brew with little to no hints of wheat...
Slick, sweet, slightly watered-down mouthfeel... Drinkability was about average due to the cloying, over-abundance of cherries noticeable on the tongue...
Interesting sample, but nothing above and beyond...

I was served this beer on tap at the Blue Tusk in Syracuse, NY

It was served in a classic Weizen Glass that bore the brand name.

It was golden in color with minimal head and very visible carbonation.
More clear than I had expected it to be.

Aroma all cherry.

I was really surprised by the creamy mouth feel.
Nice Flavor without the cherry sweetness being over done.
Cherry burst followed by bready dry finish.

Nice bread/biscuit finish lingers.

I really enjoyed the flavor that stuck with you between sips.

A decent amount of lacing was left behind.

A good session beer for the summer.

Give it a try

Pours a golden amber color with a strong white head. Beer is notably clear.

Aroma is of marichino cherries, sweet malt, and a very light hop.

Strong cherry flavor, and a strong grainy wheat as well as caramel.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied with low carbonation.

Drinkability is fairly low. Low alcohol makes for easy consumption, but strong cherry flavor becomes taxing.

On tap @ Sam Adams RIC

Nice carbonation-bubble-bath sudsy head, light honey color

Sweet cherry perfume (maraschino) with a little pie crust-pleasant yet artificial

A little tinny and clammy with again, maraschino cherries and not a lot else-slight Pilsener-ish hop presence-a little straw malt

Bubbly, clammy-finshes better than starts

Too heavy for light style-not quite natural-better options in this space

I've got to say that I was somewhat disappointed by this one since I found I like most of what Sam Adams brews.

A: Light golden/yellow color. A bit darker than Miller Light with a similar head.

S: Right away you're hit with the smell of cherry. It was all that came through in the smell.

T: Again, cherry. I was hoping for maybe a hint of cherry and a hoegarden taste, but no. Cherry and a slight hint of yeast is all I found. It is a very sweet beer.

M: Felt watery and only slightly carbonated. Not a real good feel.

D: I drank this one slowly and sort of regretted ordering it.

Pours a nice, rich amber color. Smells delicious, although very sweet and fruity (reminds me of a heavily spiced pumpkin brew). Unfortunately, it's a bit too sweet for my liking. I know it's all natural flavoring, but it seems artificial. Perhaps because it's so strong. Cough medicine came to mind while drinking it.

My wife like it so I'd consider getting a six pack (and having her drink 5) but for the most part I'll only get a single every couple of years. There are better Sam Adams beers and better flavored beers (i.e. Southern Tier's Pumpking).

Served in a 20-ounce pilsner glass at Chili's.

A: Poured a slightly red, bubbly looking golden yellow with a minimal head of loose foam.

S: Smells of straight up cherry; a little sour, and slightly sweet. Not too much else in the nose. Like Cherry Coke.

T: Tastes like a straight up lager with cherry extract added. Not as bad as it sounds though, albeit, not very complex. There's a slight hop bitterness, but it's mostly sweet cherry and grain.

M: Mouthfeel is thin and brisk. The artificial cherry flavor coats a bit.

D: I could have had another, but I switched it up to something more complicated afterwards. Not bad, but probably more suited to the summer months. Fairly drinkable.

Overall, a pretty decent fruit beer. Not being a big fan of the style, I liked this SA addition. I don;t think I could take down a whole 6-pack, and at 5.2%, it's not the fruit beer you take very lightly. It can sneak up on you, so I recommend it for its sneakiness.

I have had this one both on-tap and in the bottle. It seems that the bottle will give you a better head than the one on tap.

A- Brownish red with minimal head.

S- The cherry smell is great! This is the best part of the beer to me.

T- Good taste with the profound cherry aftertaste. It finishes better than it starts.

M- Nothing special there. Lack of fizz and life. Kind of dead in the mouth, but not bad.

D- Good for a couple beers only. I dont think drinking an entire sixer of this is doable. You will be over it after a beer or two. But all in all, a must try.

Taste-I can really taste the cherries in this beer. With a slight hint of hops.

Again Sam Adams submits another high quality, yet somewhat mediocre selection. Their Cherry Wheat pours a cloudy golden amber with a frothy white head that recedes to a slight bit of spotty lace.

The aroma is primarily cherry and malt. The cherry seems pleasantly authentic rather than extract. Some wheaty character lingers throughout.

The flavor is of somewhat syrupy sweet cherry. The cherry flavor seems to be a bit more synthetic than the aroma insinuated. Still tasty however with some mellow maltiness and grainy/starchy wheat. A hint of hops is present in the finish.

The mouthfeel is somewhat syrupy but is lightened a bit by moderate carbonation. A nice summer brew. Not the best fruit beer I've had by any stretch of the imagination, but not as bad as many people insist. A quality product.

Sampled at The Spot in Bethel, cherry wheat looks really nice in the glass nice hazy gold with a great head and lacing. The smell is a little too fruity I would have maybe liked more malty balance. Same goes for the taste cherry flavor is somewhat artificial tasting and too sweet. Sweet aftertaste hurts mouthfeel and drinkability as well. Not an awful beer but definitely not an award winner either.
