Sort of a milky honey color with a minimal amount of film on top. The film swirls into nothing almost immediately. Lots of carbonation bubbles. Overall, pretty hazy color.

Huge cherry smell, overpowering and in your face. I can't make out any other scene, this cherry is really, really strong. Too strong. This smells straight up like cherry juice with the smallest hint of vanilla.

The cherry flavor is strong, but not as overpowering as the smell. It lets the wheaty, grainy taste to come out. A little floral hops, some vanilla, toffee and corn in the malt. Though much more balanced and complimentary than the aroma, the cherry is a little too strong to let the other flavors really shine. This beer could strongly use some refinement.

Slightly heavier body than the average, lots of carbonation and a crisp finish. I could probably tolerate the cherry flavor enough to have this again, but not in succession.

Poured into my Sam Adams Perfect Pint glass.

A Was a clear orange staw color with a 1 finger white head.
S This smelled like a cherry pie coming out of the oven, with the strong tart cherry filling and wheat crust, no wonder my wife calls this a cherry pop tart.
T&M The cherries blended very well with the wheat malt making it lightly tart yet very refreshing. The beer held it carbonation well which also gave this beer more of the souring effect you would want in a fruit beer that I never realized before.
D This is a good summertime beer for those who enjoy fruit beers with a sourness to them, but don't want to spend the extra money on the richer Belgian fruit beers. I enjoyed it. After reading some of the other reviews, I really believe you have to drink this beer out of the Perfect Pint glass from Sam Adams to really appreciate this beer.

Got to try this one for the first time last night. I have to admit I was hesitant after the disaster that was the Cranberry Lambics. But I decided to give this one a shot to see if they could redeem themselves. Poured a very light pale yellow, almost completely clear it looked like, with a small fizzy white head that quickly faded and lots of champagne like carbonation.

The aroma was very light, lots of wheat and light grain here, with a touch of artificial cherry mixed in. This was pretty much the case with the flavor as well, was too light and what was there started out by tasting awfully artificial, like a generic cough drop. Really just not well put together. Virtually no aftertaste here either just did not help. Super light body with an almost seltzer like carbonation. You could drink a bunch, but would you really want to?

Overall I was not impressed. They seriously just cannot get anything done with fruit flavors anywhere near an acceptable level. I would not try this one again, as its just a waste of time for.

Had this several times. Tried it again to review it.

A - Poured out a golden-yellow color with a foamy, pillowy, small, white head. Not much lacing.

S - Smelled of wheat and yeast. The cherry aroma is subtle but noticeable.

T - The cherry flavor realy comes through. Somewhat sour. Faint wheat and grain flavors.

M - It was crisp and sharp. A light-bodied beer.

D - This is an okay fruit beer. It isn't a regular in my fridge, though.

I really don't know about this one, it was okay not great by any means. A touch too fruity for my standards, not over bearingly fruity but just enough for me to pass on this one. Over all I have had much worse as far as fruited beers go. Overall not too over powering but a little too much in a beer.

I was very excited to try this beer. I thought that cherry and wheat would be a good mix and this lead to high hopes of something great. I poured it into the glass and took a whiff...nearly throwing up because of the cherry cough drop smell. The taste was very similar to the smell, reminiscent of cherry cough drops. I had the beer again after a year, hoping that the first bottle was just a bad batch, but the second taste was the same...cherry cough drops...probably a great brew to drink with a cold to supress the cough!

Final 12oz from the summer mix pack.. poured into my shaped Sam Adams glass.

1" head dies leaving no lacing atop a hazy lite golden brew.

Aroma is cherry sucrets.. nothing else... smells artificial.

Flavor is the same.. cherry cough syrup.. just doesn't taste "real". Some wheat and pale malts... and some sweetness to make sure that you taste cherry and little else. Body is lite with quite a bit of carbonation.

I make no apologies on this one... it may be okay for someone who is trying to break into craft beer.. but there is waay too much cherry (artificial) flavors to be enjoyable to me.

Pours a clear golden, with a big white head. Smells of black cherry soda pop. Taste is sweet up front but finishes dry; flavors of maraschino cherries, and grain. Mouthfeel is somewhat thin and carbonation high. Unfortunatly the drinkability suffers somewhat, the sweet taste definiately gets old after one beer. Also, any more fruit flavor and sugar, and this wouldnt taste much like beer. But, it is pretty good, and I wouldnt complain if I had it again.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a pilsner glass.

A - Poured an orange/amber color. Pour produced a white foam head that subsided into a thin swampy film. Good carbonation and lacing throughout.

S - Malty yeasty aroma of bread fading out to the smell of cherry jolly ranchers.

T - Bready with slight hints of citrus followed by a slightly sweet cherry soda after taste.

MF&D - A good thirst quencher/BBQ beer. A little too sweet to drink all the time, but it did wonders on the beach at the Jersey Shore.

Appearance: A sensational amber color

Smell: Light sweet cherry smell. This beer had an exception aroma to it

Taste: You could definately taste the cherries, but not overpowering. Perfect for a warm day

Mouthfeel: Somewhat dry and fruity, deliciouso!

Drinkability: I do love the taste of cherries and somewhat fruity beers. On a hot day could probably put down a few of these.

I bought a summer variety 12 pack from ABC Liquers in Tampa, FL and poured it into a pint glass.
Appearance: A light amber body, kind of like a dark gold. Transparent, a big white head with large bubbles leaving not much, but a noticable amount, of lace.
Smell: Maraschino cherries knock you over.
Taste: More Maraschino cherries, but a bit watery.
Mouthfeel: Watery.
Drinkability: Just above average.
Don't drink and review.

This was one of the first "craft" beers for me 10 years ago, mainly because I was intrigued by the flavor possibilities compared to macros ... Recently decided to get reacquianted with this and I'm glad I did.

The cherry flavor is not cloyingly sweet, but there is some natural sweetness to it that takes some getting used to. To me, the balance between the wheat, honey and cherry flavors work well together. Actually thought the cherry aroma was funkier than the taste. It's definitely not an everyday session brew, but a nice, change of pace on a warm summer day.

Can't drink to many gets a littel sweet but is very drinkable for having two or three! I do not like real fruity Beers that much but I like this one all the way will get it again.

Bottle to glass.

Nice medium gold color with a lasting head and lacing.

Love the smell of sweet cherries and grainy wheat.

Taste is quite pleasent for a frutiy beer, you get a nice wheat beer and easy smooth mouthfeel, that ends with an escalating sweet cherry flavor.

This is one of if not the best fruit beer I've had, but couldn't drink more than 2 back to back, too sweet towards the end of the bottle.

A- Pale yellow with a slight reddish hue, two finger head.

S- Mostly cherries with some residual alcohol notes.

T- Light malt sweetness up front lending way to a cherry finish.

M- Crisp and clean good carbonation.

D- For a fruity beer this is as good as it gets.

Cleary one of the best fruit beers out there.

P: 12 oz., brown bottle purchased as part of the Samuel Adams Summer Styles 12-Pack.

A: Pours a rich, golden color with a creamy, two-fingered head with excellent retention, active carbonation and superior lacing.

S: Overwhelmingly cherry, like a cherry toilet puck. Hints of spice and wheat.

T: An artificial cherry flavor (think cough drop) overrides any presence of wheat malt. Notes of spice, again, overpowered by annoying cherry foundation. Finishes dry, like a cherry air freshener. Ack! Anyone for fruit subtlety?

M: Too distracted by cherry taste profile to notice.

D: Not recommended.

12 oz. bottle,

A: Pours a light hazy orange, with a thick white head, good retention, no lacing.

S: Smells just like a black cherry soda that you would get out of the cheap 25 cent vending machines.

T: Taste is not good. Cold the black cherry dominates and that is all right, would probably be a 3. As the beer warms up, this awful artificial cherry medicine flavour comes out, not something I want to drink.

M: Mouthfeel is really light and watery, I expected more.

D: Don't want to drink this beer as the bad cherry flavour comes out, didn't like it, avoid, Sam Adams' worst.

I was served this beer on tap at the Blue Tusk in Syracuse, NY

It was served in a classic Weizen Glass that bore the brand name.

It was golden in color with minimal head and very visible carbonation.
More clear than I had expected it to be.

Aroma all cherry.

I was really surprised by the creamy mouth feel.
Nice Flavor without the cherry sweetness being over done.
Cherry burst followed by bready dry finish.

Nice bread/biscuit finish lingers.

I really enjoyed the flavor that stuck with you between sips.

A decent amount of lacing was left behind.

A good session beer for the summer.

Give it a try

Pours a clear golden color. I half expected this one to be a little darker or cloudier. Strong scent of cherries up front and sweet wheat malts in the back. Not much in the way of hops. Slightly tart, sweet, and big cherry flavor. A god fruit beer, though I'm not a big fan of this style personally.

Straw colored, slightly hazy body with minimal head and very little lacing.

A TON of fake maraschino cherries in the aroma with a hint of the wheat beer beneath. Smells like a kid's cough syrup.

The taste is more huge fake cherry with a little more wheat to balance it out than what's in the aroma.

Too highly and tightly carbonated for a wheat.

The only reason this isn't a drain pour is because I'm going to pour the rest of the pint into some Tupperware to marinate meat in or make some kind of sauce. Ditto for the other bottle in the sampler.

A- Hazy dark straw with white head that disappears.

A- Smells like a jar of cherries

T- Slight malt profile, but the cherries really start to take over. Leaves an aftertaste of finishing a cherry capri sun cooler, or eating cherries. At first I found the cherry flavor to complement the beverage, but it begins to overwhelm.

M- Medium body with low carbonation. Leaves a sticky powdery feel in my mouth.

D- I had a six-pack a year ago and wasn't so fond of it, decided to give it another try. It seems very artificial. Though I have met people that love this brew. Perhaps if you are into cherries and want a semi-desert beer, or for someone that doesn't like beer

This could have gone into a weizen glass and done alright, I imagine, but I just poured into a standard pint:

A: A slightly hazy straw colour, white two finger head leaving little strips of lacing

S: A full bodied cherry aroma, but that's about it. The cherry scent takes over here, and is almost a little overpowering.

T: Taste fares a little better. The cherry flavours are not as in-your-face as they are when smelling it. Just enough tartness to give a little bit of pucker, but it's mild and easy-going. Wheat flavours make themselves known here and there.

M + D: A happy point in between slightly sticky and semi-dry. Not finishing so dry, though, it does seem to get a little on the heavier side after a while. If I were enjoying Sam Adams on a warm summer afternoon, I'd likely be far more likely to go with one of their other offerings. This one is alright, but that's about it.

A- pours a medium amber color, with a slight tinge of pink, and a one finger head. Poor retention and minimal lacing.

S- Artificial cherry extract dominates the aroma. Smells like Luden's cough drops.

F- Not bad, but not good either. The fake cherry flavor dominates the beer, almost making this taste like Nyquil, especially the "red death" flavor. Slightly sweet and artificial all around.

M- Sticky and smooth.

D- I don't think I could drink more than one.

Overall, not that great. Sam Adams usually does a great job on most of their beers, but this misses the mark. Put this one in the same boat as the cranberry lambic. That being said, I will agree that of all the fruit beers, cherry is without a doubt the hardest to pull off. Even using fresh organic cherries, it can still taste like cough syrup. This is better than average, but not quite up to the sublime cherry nirvana that is achieved by New Glarus. With some work, this beer could be great... Until then, I'll save this a my last beer out of the six pack when outside.
