Poured from a bottle into a weizen glass.
Another witbier from Sam Adams?? Are they just releasing the same beer over and over with different labels?
A - Pours a hazy banana-yellow, with a one-finger white head of perfectly even bubbles. No lacing to speak of.
S - I was smelling this one before it came anywhere near my nose. Very powerful aroma of orange, clove, coriander, ginger, and cake batter? Somewhat strange mix. Just too much spice.
T - First taste is...vanilla? What is vanilla doing in my Witbier? Coriander and clove in the mid-palate. Some almost artificial tasting orange marmalade in the finish. I can't get over the vanilla. I even went and got a palate cleanser mid-glass because I thought I was hallucinating. Nope, still there. Way too sweet.
M - Creamy?!? Again, more strangeness. Body is light-to-medium, with standard SA prickly carbonation. Finishes syrupy.
O - What a weird beer. It's all over the place with off flavors, odors, and feels, like some sort of Frankenstein's Monster. The joke is on me though, as this is definitely NOT like any of SA's recent witbier offerings. NOT good, either.
