look: 3.25 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 3.75 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 3.75

Appearance: Pours a lightly hazed, pale yellow body with a small-sized, white head that eventually levels out leaving thin sheets of lace on the descent.

Smell: Restrained sniffs of a crisped, softly toasted grains and modest notes of lemon and herb.

Taste: White bread-bready malts with a light touch of graininess. Softly sweet, hinting a bit at honey. Half a drop of lemon juice, along with some spicy, floral hops. Low grape note. Mild tastes of the various flavors as you reach the near-crisp finish with a light, lingering grain undertone.

Mouthfeel: Just under medium-bodied. Medium-plus carbonation.

Overall: Along the lines of their East-West Kolsch, minus the East. A surprising amount of relatively light offerings in this year's Winter pack.

Enjoy before 6/2014.

Pours a murky orange with a foamy off-white head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, grass, and slight fruit aromas. Taste is much the same with grass and hay flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that is tasty and easy to drink.

From twelve ounce bottle freshness dated to May 2014.

Has a light citrus fragrance with a hint of meadow grass. Pours clear orange body with short lasting white head. Nice lacing of glass. Crisply carbonated. An acidic and slightly sweet taste. Enjoyable.

Pours a clear, golden color. 2/3 inch head of a white color. Great retention and good lacing. Smells of wheat, pale malt, slight sweet malt, hint of hop, and hint of yeast. Fits the style of a Kolsch. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of wheat, pale malt, slight sweet malt, hint of citrus, hint of hop, and hint of yeast. Overall, an average Kolsch, with no outstanding aspects.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a Shaker pint glass.

APPEARANCE: hazy, golden-orange hue with 1 finger head that dissipated quickly to a thin broken layer of off-white bubbles, lighter carbonation and minimal lacing.

SMELL: sweet caramel, some citrus, a little bread.

TASTE: the taste follows the nose, initially sweet caramel, some citrus and a very mild hop profile, everything subtle and understated, not much going on here.

PALATE: lighter body and carbonation.

OVERALL: this is a good beer that would not offend or impress anyone. A good Fourth of July beer to serve to people who do not necessarily like craft beer. I will probably not buy this one again.

A-Cloudy yellow orange, two finger fluffy head, some carbonation.

S-Malt, lots of it, straw, orange and banana.

T-Rather malty, lots of straw and wheat, slightly artificial lemon.

M-Lighter, nicely carbonated, could be more crisp though.

O-A boring beer, more of a summer beer than a spring beer. As it warms the beer starts going down hill quickly

12 ounce bottle into signature pint glass, best before 6/2014. Pours lightly hazy bright gold color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of lemon, pear, apple, cracker, bread, wheat, floral, grass, light pepper, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance of malt, hop, and yeast ester notes; with good strength. Taste of lemon, pear, apple, cracker, biscuit, wheat, herbal, floral, grass, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Minimal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon zest, pear, apple, cracker, biscuit, floral, grass, herbal, light pepper, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and robustness of bready malt, yeast ester, and moderate earthy hop flavors; with zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice kolsch style! All around good balance and robustness of malt, yeast ester, and moderate earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
