"Escaping from winter's darkness, this hazy golden, unfiltered Kolsch style creates a fresh start. Our take on the classic hybrid style from Cologne Germany, combines the subtle fruit notes of an ale with the smooth crispness of a lager for a bright, refreshing brew to help escape those lingering cold days. Cheers!" Brewed in the style of a German Kolsch. Available in 12 oz. bottles within the spring thaw variety pack and on limited draft.

Poured into a Samuel Adams Sensory pint glass. Served above 53 degrees Fahrenheit.

Pours a frothy foam head of a cream white tone over a hazy pale amber body with spritely plentiful carbonation. Retention is excellent and lacing is moderate and streaked. The aroma predicts a simple but pleasant Kolsch, with a light cracker malt profile, a light grassy hop aroma with a subtle bitterness and a light white grape profile underneath. The flavor is similar with a soft, lightly sweet cracker malt with a touch of biscuit, a lightly bitter grass hop and a slightly earthy, peppery and clean finish. The texture is soft, mildly creamy and faintly tart and with a mild carbonation for a slick, soft creamy mouthfeel. The body is light/medium for the style, light/medium overall. Balance is evenly sweet to bitter hop and tart fruit. Alcohol presence is very low and off characters are minimal. A simple but drinkable Kolsch, a little light on flavor but sessionable enough to justify a couple in a row.

Poured into a Sester stange. Pours a light to medium coppery amber with a big two finger white head with good retetention and lots of lacing. Aroma of sweet and biscuit malt, hint of lemon, good Kolsch aroma. Flavor is sweet bready malt with light biscuit notes, light grassy hops and slight lemon in the finish. Medium bodied. The aroma got me excited, but the main initial flavors here are closer to a typical American lager, although there is biscuit and German style hops in the finish. A pleasant enough light lager, but not quite a traditional Kolsch.

I poured this into a glass, it has gold color body witj a small head to it. The smell has a light fruit, bread aroma to it. The taste has a light malt flavor and some grassy/hay notes to it also. I also get a little hop on the finish. The mouthfeel is smooth and overall a good beer.
