12 ounce bottle into signature pint glass, best before 8/2014. Pours fairly crystal clear golden orange color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, floral, grass, light pine, light caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus hops, pineapple, and moderate pale malt sweetness; with solid strength. Taste of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, floral, grass, light pine, light caramel, biscuit, and floral/grassy earthiness. Fair amount of pine/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, floral, grass, light pine, light caramel, biscuit, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice balance and complexity of citrus hops, pineapple, and moderate pale malt sweetness; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, crisp, and slightly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice fruited IPA. All around good balance and complexity of citrus hop, pineapple, and pale malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

poured into a pint glass
A- pours a clear golden color with a small white foamy head that reduces to a small cap, leaving no lace behind
S- subtle citrusy hop aroma with some spicy character, sugary sweet malt & pineapple juice
T- trying to find any hop bitterness up front is a chore, it's more sweet and malty than anything. As is nears the finish it tastes like a mixture of grapefruit juice and pineapple juice, with a slight citrusy hop bitterness on a sweet and sugary finish
M- medium body with moderate carbonation leads to a foamy and crisp mouthfeel with a sweet and bubbly finish
O- It's hard to call this an IPA because the hops just simply aren't there. It is however very drinkable and is a decent option for a summer day

Poured into a 13 oz tulip, best before August. Pours a dark yellow, with a one inch white head that leaves behind some nice lace.
Smell is pineapple, grapefruit, biscuit, and lemon.
Taste follows, pineapple and other citrus flavors, with some caramel that I didn't get from the nose.
Body is light, plenty of life, a little dry, and easy drinking.
Over all this pretty good, but surprised this won the contest.

Pours a light honey color, clear, with very little of a head that disappears. I didn't get much in the way of a smell except for some lemon, a hint of yeast, and a little alcohol. Its a clean tasting beer, very refreshing, but I'm not getting any tried and true IPA elements. The pineapple taste is subtle - more like a lemon-pineapple (heavier on the lemon side). There's a bit of a yeasty funk that comes through on the back end of the taste; minerals, too (which reminds me, unfortunately, of drinking pineapple juice from concentrate out of a can, and not fresh pineapple juice). The beer is not sweet, which I was afraid it would be, and it's not syrupy, either. The carbonation is more subtle, too, than expected. Overall, a refreshing, clean, mildly citrusy beer.

Amber dark orange. Small head cap dwindles and dwindles.
Peachy sweet malts with pale barley grain and bruised pineapple notes. Light hops. Too fruity for a true IPA.
Bitter hops that have an aged pine flavor. Hints of citrus. Not much pineapple, at all. Pale ale mildness. A tad spicy. Odd finish with leafy astringency.
Spicy carbonation. Body seems a little sticky. Blah.

I poured this beer into a ipa glass, it has a hazy gold color body with a small head to it. The smell has a sweet aroma coming off of it, of pineapple and a little hop. The taste starts off a little sweet then the hops come in(nothing stands out) then a little malt on the back of the tongue. Mouthfeel is good and overall I think it is a good beer.

A: Pours an orange/amber color with a fingers worth of head that fades down to a small cap
S: Pineapple and some fruitiness up front, with a hint of citrus. Maltiness plays a bit of a heavy hand
T: A bit of pineapple and fruitiness, followed by some of the citrus. Maltiness comes in and takes over little. Finishes with some light fruitiness as well as the maltiness
M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation
O: Aside from the pineapple to start the nose and taste, this brew doesn't really live up to the name. Definitely much more like an APA than an IPA, especially with the malt/hop ratio and the lack of bitterness. Probably the dud of the 3 longshot brews for 2014
