Appearance: Above average look. Amber-brown with not that much foam or lacing. A shade darker than Boston Lager. Kind of average in my opinion. Looks like carbonation is present, but not as much as the lager.
Smell: It's ok. Maltiness and that's about it. Maybe some honey? Hard to discern.
Taste/Mouthfeel: Creamy and veltvety smooth. Very little hoppiness but more maltiness, especially when compared to Boston Lager. It's refreshing.
Drinkability: Probably one of Sam Adam's easiest-to-drink beers.
Overall: Boston Ale might be the best gateway beer for anyone wanting to try Sam Adams. In other words, its a more neutral version of Boston Lager.
