From the winter sampler 12-pack:
Pours almost totally black; just a hint of light shows around the edges. Light-colored head turns quickly into a ring around my glass.
It smells literally of chocolate and toasted malt.
The taste is nicely chocolaty, with a nice sweetness that isn't cloying. This doesn't taste like a chocolate milkshake, though: There is plenty of malt presence.
Great creamy body, but not so much to make it seem like a stout.
Overall this is a fine beer and one of Samuel Adams' better ones.
