Thanks to TinusTime for the free sample, pre-release. Another benefit of BA and the BA's i've met.
Came in a 12 oz sample bottle. Apparently the release will be packaged much more extravagantly. Pours dark. A deep mahogany, this is not the color of a stout, more of a really dark dopplebock. There was a decent head on this that died quick. Sweet aroma, with some fruity esters and alot of chocolate. WOW!
Tastes like Cadbury's chocolate. If you like great chocolate, you will love this. Milk chocolate dominates the taste. Not sickly sweet, just a great chocolate taste. This is no doubt the most choclatey beer i've had, and this is a great thing. There are some mild hops in the finish to keep things from getting too sticky. It's malty & chocolatey, without the roasted taste you find in stouts. Mouthfeel is thick but finishes nicely due to the hops. A bit more drinkable than I expected, but still not something to pound all night. Excellent!
