Pour: Dark reddish-brown color. Two and a half fingers of dense off-white head that dissipated fairly quickly and left hardly any lacing on the glass.

Smell: Aromas of roasted malt, cocoa beans, milky sweetness. No real hops detectable, but appetizing.

Taste: Starts off with a sweet malty character reminiscent of mocha, which then gives way into more of a bittersweet bakers chocolate taste. Finishes clean.

Mouthfeel: For such a tasty brew, the mouthfeel is incredibly thin. Plenty of carbonation too.

Drinkability: Drinks smoothly, but is a bit filling.

Final Notes: I'm glad they put it in 12-ounce bottles in the variety packs this year. This beer is pretty decent, but it's not worth $15 for a 22-ounce bomber (like it's been in years past). Solid beer, I'd recommend it as a dessert beer.

12 ounce bottle poured into a pint glass.

A - Pours a deep brown, almost black color with a moderate head but lacing throughout.

S - A mild cocoa with some hint of malt - no hops at all.

T - Chocolate with a hint of sweetness from the malt.

M - Almost velvety smooth with a sweet finish.

O - This is "Yoo Hoo" for adults. Nothing you want to do a session with, but like a lot of Samuel Adams Specialty beers a nice change of pace.

A: Pours a dark chocolate brown, pretty much black, with a creamy mocha ring of head.

S: Malty and chocolatey nose, not much else.

T: Malt, milk chocolate, medium roast coffee and roasted malt.

M: Medium bodied and smooth enough.

O: Not really what I expected, but then again, it doesn't stray too far from what I expected. It's decent, worth a try. Recommended.
