poured from a 12oz into my arrogant bastard pint glass, dark tan mocha colored head floats atop the brew, perfectly even dissipation. The body is dark, looks exactly like a porter to me.
The scent is mainly malty as I would expect it to be, dark roasted types give off a sweet molasses aroma accompanied by it's namesake...chocolate. The hops are definitely detectable though, brings a smooth light creamy organic type deal to the table.
The flavor lit my face up a little bit to be honest, the chocolate fades in from nothing in the beginning and sticks with you for the entire tasting through to the end. It is definitely more of the sweeter milk chocolate that you would get in a hershey bar. I also get a coffee flavor from all that roasted malt which does a great number in combination with the chocolate to give a nice mocha taste.
The mouthfeel is creamy, solid, and when taken in combination with the whole brew, reminds me of a chocolate milkshake. Overall I thought this was a well done beer although I would probably have categorized it as a porter.
