Pours very dark, black except when held to the light, ruby colors can be seen around the edges. not much head but a ring of beige colored suds.
has that typical samuel adams aroma to it, the yeast they use is easy to pick out. and there is a lot of chocolate in there. Roasted chocolate malts abound.
Roasted chocolate comes out even stronger in the taste. finishes with and espresso, coffee type of flavor. Very dark and robust tastes, sweet bready malts. very nice bock.
medium bodied, moderately carbonated.
Very drinkable beer, and i'm glad Boston Beer Co. decided to add this to the winter variety pack. So much better than Coastal Wheat!
