The body is a black/darkest of brown color, with a light tan/off-white, creamy head that dissipates into a tiny layer of creamy foam. There is some lacing, but not as much as I expected.

The aroma is sweet, and typical of a stout. There's a little bit more of a vanilla hint to it than say, a Guinness. Some dark roasted malts hit the nose, followed by dark coffee, and some chocolate/cocoa as well.

As for the taste, it's sweet, sort of vanilla-like, with loads of dark coffee and dark chocolate, finishing with a slight vanilla/cream hint. The hop bitterness is very low; most of the bite comes from the carbonation, I would say. It is pretty carbonated.

The drinkability is beyond high, and an extremely smooth beer, at that.

Not to demean Guinness in any way, but I'd buy this over it any day of the year. This is one of my new favorite, year-round beers. I'm so glad I tried this.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing opaque black in the glass, with a one finger fine khaki head with good retention and lacing. Aroma of sweet dark malt, graham crackers, mild lactose. Flavor is sweet, mildly toasted malt, crackers, hints of vanilla and milk chocolate. Finishes semi-dry with slight hop bitterness. Medium, lightly creamy body. A nice milk stout that covers all the expected flavor notes. A bit light in flavor, but what's here is good and well integrated. A good, safe milk stout.

Wow what a great beer...

A - Dark brown. Bit of dark ruby in there held up to the light. Pours with a beautiful ~1.5" tan head, and leaves great amount of lacing.

S - Nose is of coffee and vanilla, maybe literally like vanilla coffee beans. Only complaint is that is was very faint, had to almost stick my nose in my glass!

T - Delicious. Tastes like chocolate/vanilla/caramel/roasted nut/coffee but it all comes in waves and finishes a bit dry but with a pleasant bitterness that doesn't go against the sweetness of the choc/van/coffee. Beautiful blend of flavors.

M = I would say medium bodied. I'm on my 3rd one of the evening and I am pretty full. Maybe a bit above average carbonation.

O - Great. One of my new favorites. Only reason I didn't give Taste a 5 was because of 1 oatmeal stout I've had that was the best stout I've ever tasted. This was good though!!!

Look: Almost a pure black, not quite. About one finger of head which dissolves to a very thin layer in a minute.

Smell: Sweet, creamy and actually, milk.

Taste: A bit more bitter than I remember, but with a very little subtle sweetness. I really can detect and actual hint of milk.

Feel: A little thin for a stout. I'd say medium bodied, but with just a touch of creaminess. Also a bit more carbonation than I'd prefer but not bad.

Overall: This is a pretty good beer. One of those go to choices that's always there when you can't decide. This was one of my original favorites when I first start drinking craft beer a year ago.
