A - A few shades lighter than ebony. Some lacing with fair carbonation and a more than adequate head after an aggressive pour. Though, after a short while, the head quickly diminishes to nothingness.
S - Brown Sugar. Molasses. Coffee. The smell is quite appealing, and quite sweet (complimenting it's style.)
T - The taste is a direct reflection of it's smell, but somewhat more bitter than expected. The malts character is wonderful. All in all a good tasting brew.
M - A bit of carbonation detracts from the potential velvet, silky feel. The brew is in no way thin, but not extremely thick either. A good consistency.
D - Though its ABV might make this a session beer, I couldn't picture myself having more than a few of these in one sitting. It truly is, as another reviewer put it, a dessert drink.
To be honest, there are few beers made under the Samuel Adams label that I can say I don't like, and this defiantly NOT one of them. Not only is it a good beer overall, but for a mass produced American beer it shines!
