Out of the Samuel Adams winter classics sampler pack. Well worth the sale price that comes to about $1 a beer.
A - A one finger tan head is left after an aggressive pour into a Chimay chalice. The color is a deep, dark, murky void of blackness. Just as a good stout ought to be.
S - Upon taking a sniff the first two aromas that hit me are a strong roastiness and chocolate chip cookies. There is also a smoky character to the aroma.
T - Roasted malt, bitter chocolate, earthy hop bitterness
M - Full bodied, creamy and smooth. Somewhat of a dry finish.
D - Low in alcohol, but a very filling beer. Easy drinking for a stout but fills me up and doesn't leave me reaching for another.
