12 oz bottle

Apperance: Dark brown, amder when held up to the light...I mean the light bulb, this is not an amber beer, i just wanted to see what was in there. this is almost black in normal light. head is great. Looks like a malted milkshake, i hope it tastes like one. head is think and off-white. The head looks and retains like a rootbeer float. thats the best description of it.

Nose: The first things I smell are mint and spices. this beer does not have a boring smell, it does, however, have a faint one. Charcoal and unsweetened chocolate. Also some freshly cut grass in the begining.

Taste: this was very pleasent. A little bitter at the end from the hops. I get the same chocolate as I smelled. it is a bit dry all the way through. It smells sweeter than it tastes. Think hops and chocolate...unsweetened. I did not get anything I would consider cream in the tasting...or the nose.

Notes: A very good stout. It's not too bitter and it isnt too sweet. it's just right.

Wow what a great beer...

A - Dark brown. Bit of dark ruby in there held up to the light. Pours with a beautiful ~1.5" tan head, and leaves great amount of lacing.

S - Nose is of coffee and vanilla, maybe literally like vanilla coffee beans. Only complaint is that is was very faint, had to almost stick my nose in my glass!

T - Delicious. Tastes like chocolate/vanilla/caramel/roasted nut/coffee but it all comes in waves and finishes a bit dry but with a pleasant bitterness that doesn't go against the sweetness of the choc/van/coffee. Beautiful blend of flavors.

M = I would say medium bodied. I'm on my 3rd one of the evening and I am pretty full. Maybe a bit above average carbonation.

O - Great. One of my new favorites. Only reason I didn't give Taste a 5 was because of 1 oatmeal stout I've had that was the best stout I've ever tasted. This was good though!!!

Look: Almost a pure black, not quite. About one finger of head which dissolves to a very thin layer in a minute.

Smell: Sweet, creamy and actually, milk.

Taste: A bit more bitter than I remember, but with a very little subtle sweetness. I really can detect and actual hint of milk.

Feel: A little thin for a stout. I'd say medium bodied, but with just a touch of creaminess. Also a bit more carbonation than I'd prefer but not bad.

Overall: This is a pretty good beer. One of those go to choices that's always there when you can't decide. This was one of my original favorites when I first start drinking craft beer a year ago.
