Pours a deep, deep brown, amber highlights, fizzy pale tan head. The appearance is outstanding, definitely very appealing.
Smells are definitely malty, sweetish (but not overpowering) giving way to roasty, chocolately aromas. Tastes is almost strictly of malts. Very little, if any, hops to this brew. However, it works, and well. Great malty character, hints of chocolate and spice. Mouthfeel is medium-heavy, great carbonation.
Overall this beer works. Reading the description on the bottle, you think they'd play it up, but you get exactly what they advertise. A great spiced malty ale that's great for the cold nights. Definitely recommended.
