Pours a clear light amber color with a red tint. Modest, yet sticky head. Smell is way off from what I expect from a lambic. Sugary estery banana with a touch of cranberry. Upfront on the palate is again sweet banana with a very mild cranberry undertone. Hops show up a touch only in bitterness through the finish, but the sweetness lingers due to noticeable residual sugar. Really one-dimensional flavor, none of which resembles a lambic. Mouthfeel is medium light with soft carbonation. Drinkability could be better.
This is NOT a lambic. It does not resemble a lambic. It almost seems like a hefeweizen with sugar and a tough of cranberry juice. It's not painfully sweet, but it is certainly too sweet, it covers up the malt profile. One dimensional sugary flavor, none of the hallmarks of a lambic. I almost wonder if SA used a hefeweizen yeast on this. This isn't undrinkable, and i've rated other beers higher that i've liked much less, but this is so far from what is expected of a cranberry lambic...
