WOW, lots of reviews on this one. Guess this will serve as yet another drop in the bucket...
Samuel Adams Holiday Porter was the last beer I had left from my "Winter Classics" 12-pack. Once again, I was impressed by Boston Beer Company. This beer was well done, like most of the others in this case.
The Holiday Porter has a huge, thick, sea foam head of over 1". It is a nice light khaki color and is impressive. The body is extremely dark brown and might as well be called black.
THE SMELL is roasted barley and hops with milk chocolate cocoa powder aromas.
THE TASTE goes from yeast + chocolate -> coffee -> hops.
THE FEEL is very good with a full body and a nice dry and bitter finish.
Holiday Porter is described as a "hearty porter" on the label and in this way it is very accurate. I love when beer labels don't lie. This is a solid porter. Boston Beer Co. should make this year-round. That's my only complaint. Why call it a "Holiday" porter? This shouldn't be a seasonal. It's just a good porter. Make it year round, guys!
