Samuel Adams Black Lager pours a coal sack black red from a 12oz dark brown glass bottle with a pry off cap. Head went to well over three fingers in my 16oz beer glass. Head was made up of fine tan foam that turned just a bit rocky before going down to a full carpet of foam with tons of thick fine lace along the inside walls of my beer glass.
Nose is a very slight burnt chocolate, charcoal, and fig. Palate is a sweet malty fig with bittersweet chocolate, followed by the bight of carbonation with a pleasant bitter hops aftertaste.
Oh My Gosh, this is really good. Smooth mouth feel with a malty sweet sundry fruit backbone that is well balanced with the bittering of hops, I do hope that this one stays around.
