Appearance: This beer pours almost black with slight red highlights. Nice tan head and decent lacing.
Smell: Sweet malts and a bit of coffee of toffee. Seems thick even in the nose.
Taste: Molasses comes to mind, the real stuff (black). A bit of dark chocolate. Super sweet aftertaste of Carmel, followed by a slight dry bitterness on the tip of your tongue.
Mouthfeel: Feels like a lager (medium weight) but tastes like a stout (very syrupy). Smooth. Wow, this is a stout lovers jackpot.
Drinkability: This is a very easy drinking beer. It is to sweet to be sessionable for me but one goes down very easily.
Every time this beer is such a sweet treat. Tonight we had some double chocolate cake with a dark chocolate icing and the Black Lager was just perfect after the coffee with the cake wow!
Hope this is helpful.
