Pour: Very dark brown in color. Streaks of ruby red at the edges when held up to the light. A finger and a half of tan head with decent retention and nice lacing.
Smell: Light aroma of roasted malts, coffee, and a hint of hops. Not much going on here and rather lackluster.
Taste: Things pick up a bit here. Roasted and caramel front end with a dark, fruity middle. Finishes clean with a light coffee bitterness.
Mouthfeel: On the thinner side of things, and with rather high carbonation.
Drinkability/Overall: Very sessionable and easy drinking. Flavor is good, just not very bold.
Final Notes: Pretty good beer, but nothing spectacular. Very sessionable and pretty "run-of-the-mill." Great introduction to the world of dark beer for beginners.
