07/08/05- Sampled at BA member Spinlock's house last night.
Presentation- Sampler size taste from the copper-esque bottle.
Appearance- Just what is a 25% beer supposed to look like? Cognac colored pour with no head or lacing. Guess that's about right?
Smell- Wow, strongest beer I have ever smelled. Pretty much a brandy hard alcohol smell. No hops or malt detected. A good strong scent though.
Taste- Cognac like flavor, maybe even a scotch whiskey influenced flavor. Raisins, maybe a bit of aged orange flavor to go with some oak and caramel. Maple syrup in the finish.
Mouthfeel- Smooth...very smooth. No carbonation here. Syrupy sweet and cloying.
Drinkability- Just a bit of this was good enough for me. Good stuff best had as an after dinner aperatif. Thanks Pete for the chance to try this wonderful brew!
