A- This guy pours a nice dark, dark brown hue. It's doesn't look as dark as Founder's porter, which is what I now measure all porter's by! An off-white/tan head rises to a full inch. Slight dark ruby hue's shine through. The head slowly falls to a nice thin layer on top. Good lacing all the way.
S- I'm getting coffee, a little toffee flavors and coffee-cake smells. It smells good for sure, which is usually a good indicator of taste to come.
T- Wow, the first thing to hit me is a big, bold and rich coffee flavor. There is definitly a roasted almond taste, a little rich dessert hint in there too that I can can't quite hit on. If I do taste honey, it's on the back. There is too much initial porter on the front to tell. Either way, it's good!
M- Good mouthfeel, this one doesn't feel watery. I was dissapointed by a few before but this one comes through. Not as rich as Founder's, but still good for the style.
D- Oh my, yes this one is quite sessionable. I'm really glad that Boston Beer has been able to basically become a "small-macro" brewer, and yet put out really high quality ales!
With the "Honey" in the name of porter, I was expecting something quite different and unique. Never the less, they did quite a fine job.
Keep staying true Jim, this one's nice!
