Appearance: A large, dense, and persistent tan head resides above a mahogany body, which reveals excellent clarity and numerous streams of small, slow-rising bubbles. Sticky patched lacing adorns the glass walls.
Aroma: Prominent herbal hop notes dominate the aroma, with sweet caramel, toasted malts, honey, earth, and bitter cocoa.
Taste: Opens with a faint note of sweetness, soon followed by roasted malts, earth, and cold coffee. Later in the taste, the hops rise to ascendancy, with a mild earthy bitterness, characteristic of the subtle nature of English hops. At the close of the taste, the hops and cold coffee notes from the roasted malt bring the taste to a graceful close.
Mouth feel: Smooth, soft, and very pleasant, graceful.
Drinkability/notes: Quite well done, a very nice example of the style.
Presentation: Packaged in a 12 ounce brown glass long neck bottle with raised lettering and a pop-off crown, served in a standard pint tap glass. The Sam Adams bottles are a favorite of home brewers.
