Part of a Brewmaster's Series case I picked up recently. Label bore a "best by" date of 08/2007. Poured into a Sam Adams pint glass. Nice dark brown coloring, a thick, creamy mocha head, and good sheet lace; quite an attractive beer.
Nose has a lot of caramel malt tones, some light herbal hops, and a touch of bread.
Malt profile is prominent with caramel and light nut notes standing out initially. Some citrus fruit tang and a modest hops bitering in the finish balance things out. Medium-bodied, dry feel.
Overall, pretty darn drinkable. Pairs up nicely with grilled chicken and veggies. A solid version of the style. Worth checking out.
