Picked this up in the brewer's mix pack. Brown Ales are probably the most polarizing beers for me, either I really like them (Goose Island and Bell's) or not. Sadly, this fell squarely in the later.
A: Everything starts off fine, pours a deep burnished amber with a nice thick tan head.
S: Mostly sweet light malts, but thought I picked up some roasted notes squeezed in there.
T: This is where it goes south-to me the malts started off way to sweet up front and then quickly become unpleasently harsh, not a good combination. there is some underlying nuttiness that adds some complexity, but it is pretty much drowned out by the harsh malt flavors.
M: The harshness of the malts carries over to the mouthfeel.
D: Couldn't see this as a sessions brew, which is unfortunate.
