12 oz bottle best before Oct served in a Sam Adams pint glass
Samuel Adams Brown pours a clear deep brown with a lot of red tint, the head is small and fades quickly. The nose is a bit light, toasted malt a bit of vanilla and some caramel with buttery biscuit in the background and a touch of mild spicy hops. Oddly enough the spicy hops come through first in the taste but soon after you get the toasted malt kick that you are looking for from the beginning. Again very buttery just like in the nose but I'm not getting all of the malt that I'm looking for I feel like the flavor here is a bit too one dimensional as far as the malts are concerned and I'm also slightly concerned by the hoppiness. Mouthfeel is a bit light for me a bit of a spicy dry finish which is pleasant. This is a good brown ale, an introduction beer perhaps for macro drinkers who are looking for something darker but it leaves a real brown ale fan wanting a bit more.
