Pours a great looking unfiltered light brown color. There is a fine amount of carbonation that creates a thick white head that has very nice retention.
Smell is very fruity for a dunkelweizen. The fruit smell is highlighted by a good tropical fruit smell, however there is some nice malt smells as well to take it down.
Taste is much more undertoned than the smell. The tropical fruit goes away, but a real strong malted wheat taste comes out. There is also a tinge of smokiness to it as well.
Mouthfeel is very nice. There is a medium thickness and a great smoothness on the tongue.
Drinkability is good. This beer has some very good tastes and goes down very smooth. Dunkelweizens are a tough beer to make great, but Sam Adams does a very good job with their offering.
