Pours a dark autumnal orange/light brown colored body with good clarity. Decent amount of creamy colored head but fades a bit too quick.
Spice seems to dominate the aroma with a little bit of pumpkin and not much else. Hints of malty sweetness in the background but it's hard to overcome the seasonal spices being used.
Taste... yup, its a heavily spiced pumping beer. Cinnamon and nutmeg and you typical round out of autumn/winter spices. Some pumpkin flavor the help balance these out. Malt stand up just enough so you don't completely lose the beeriness of what could easily have been an over spiced beer.
Mouthfeel has a creamy texture with a nice medium body feel. Overall, Sam Adams has done a fine job with their pumpkin beer but it's certainly not my favorite. I could see how this would appeal to the typical Sam Adams market.
